6 June - Anne Secord (Cambridge) on Clare's influence, Gilbert White, and ornithological observational practices.

Sunday, 2 April - BBC Radio 4 Extra 'Under the Influence and Thinking on Their Feet - the Poetry of John Clare' at 5pm - repeated on Monday 3 April at 5am. It's a repeat from 2002.

Until 22 April - 'Found in the Fields' - an exhibition by Carry Akroyd - hand-drawn lithographs and linocuts relating to the poetry of John Clare, at the Brewhouse Theatre, Coal Orchard, Taunton, Somerset.

27 April - The Langdyke Countryside Trust is holding a Nightingale Walk to Castor Ganglands - meet at Helpston Post Office at 7.30pm.

Sunday, 30 April - As part of the Deepings Literary Festival, there will be a tour and cream tea at the Clare Cottage in Helpston, with Pennyless playing in the gardens. Tickets available from the Stamford Arts Centre and also via the DLF website at  

Sunday, 30 April - As part of the DLF, Stuart Henson & The Sheepish Grin will be performing in the Bluebell Pub, Helpston, at 4pm. Tickets £6, from Stamford Arts Centre or the DLF website above.

6 May - 28 July - Carry Akroyd's 'Found in the Fields', at the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe, Lancashire. 

20 May - Matthew Arnold's 'John Clare Cantata' will be performed as part of a concert, 'Wind, Rain and Snow' by the William Byrd Singers at Christ Church, West Didsbury, Manchester, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£9 concessions), available on the door.

14 - 16 July 2017 - The John Clare Society annual festival in Helpston, near Peterborough. Midsummer cushions and folk music on the Friday. On the Saturday, stalls, the President's talk, John Goodridge talking about Bloomfield, and an evening concert from The Decent Scrapers.
